The government has approved the creation of the three AI Centres of Excellence, with a total financial outlay of Rs. 990.00 Crore over the period of FY 2023-24 to FY 2027-28
Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced the establishment of three AI Centres of Excellence (CoE) focused on Healthcare, Agriculture, and Sustainable Cities with a financial outlay of Rs. 990.00 Crore from FY 2023-24 to FY 2027-28.
Under the vision to “Make AI in India and Make AI work for India,” these centres aim to be global hubs of public good, strengthening India’s position in the AI landscape. The government is committed to nurturing talent and providing solutions on a global scale.
Led by top educational institutions, these CoEs will drive interdisciplinary research, develop innovative applications, and create scalable solutions in Healthcare, Agriculture, and Sustainable Cities. The initiative seeks to build a robust AI ecosystem and cultivate skilled professionals in these vital sectors.
These CoEs in AI are set to revolutionize the start-up ecosystem, generate new job opportunities, and contribute to the growth of the economy. With a focus on “Viksit Bharat,” India is poised to become a global leader in AI, paving the way for a brighter future.
