Concerns Rise for Health of Jailed Former Pakistan Leader Imran Khan

Concern is growing over the health of Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan, who has been in prison for over a year on politically motivated charges. His ex-wife, Jemima Khan, revealed that his sons have been blocked from contacting him since September, with limited access to legal and medical help. The government-appointed doctors declared him “fit and healthy,” but his party remains skeptical.

Criticism mounts as the U.S. House of Representatives and other international bodies call for investigations into alleged poll-rigging in Pakistan. Despite pressure from the international community, little executive action has been taken. Khan’s family, including his sisters, has also faced detainment, escalating tensions between his party and the government.

The PTI planned protests coincide with a major summit, causing additional strain on the weak government. Calls for Khan’s release continue, with threats and intimidation directed at his family. The PTI vows to keep protesting until Khan receives basic rights.
