CoE urges Denmark to increase Muslim representation in education, police.

The Council of Europe (CoE) has urged Danish authorities to increase the representation of Muslims in academic and law enforcement roles in response to a rise in racism. The CoE called for the implementation of a national action plan against racism in Denmark to address the issue and ensure a more diverse workforce.

The action plan should aim to combat anti-Muslim racism and discrimination, as recommended by the council. The Danish government had initiated an action plan against racism back in 2022, with a focus on addressing hate crimes and discrimination against minorities, including Muslims.

Recent reports have highlighted the challenges faced by Muslims in Denmark, with the country being identified as one of the most problematic for Muslims in Europe. A 2018 report from the Danish National Police revealed a high number of religiously motivated hate crimes targeting Muslims.
