The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced a 5-10% water cut in Mumbai from October 17 to 18 due to a glitch in a valve on a pipeline in Thane district. The breakdown in the 900 mm valve of the Vaitarna water pipeline system at Tarali has led to a partial shutdown of the water supply system, resulting in reduced water supply to the Bhandup Water Treatment Plant.
The repair work is expected to take approximately 48 hours, during which citizens are advised to store adequate water and use it judiciously. The BMC has urged residents to cooperate by conserving water during this period. The 5-10% cut in water supply will be imposed across Mumbai until the issue is resolved.
