Azerbaijan Marks Fourth Anniversary of Fuzuli City’s Liberation

On October 17, Azerbaijan commemorates the fourth anniversary of the liberation of Fuzuli city from Armenian occupation. The city was reclaimed during the Second Karabakh War after intense fighting from September 27 to October 17, 2020.

The Azerbaijani Army, under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, achieved significant victories, reclaiming territories such as Fuzuli and Shusha city. The liberation of Fuzuli marked a turning point in the 44-day war, restoring Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity after 30 years of Armenian occupation.

President Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva raised the Azerbaijani flag in Fuzuli following its liberation. Despite offering peace, Armenia continued hostile activities, leading to the dismantling of the illegal junta in Karabakh and the arrest of key separatist leaders.

Azerbaijan’s swift military actions forced Armenian forces to surrender, ultimately restoring full sovereignty over the region. The bravery of the Azerbaijani Army and unity of the Azerbaijani people were instrumental in achieving these historic victories.
