State Workers in Argentina Declare 36-Hour Strike
State workers in Argentina, represented by the ATE labor union, are set to stage a 36-hour strike on Oct. 29 and 30 in protest against President Javier Milei’s economic policies. ATE Secretary-General Rodolfo Aguiar expressed dissatisfaction with the current government and emphasized the need to intensify their efforts for change.
The strike aims to demand the immediate reopening of bargaining negotiations and a raise to recover lost purchasing power. Workers will also march in front of the Deregulation and Transformation Ministry in Buenos Aires to express their grievances against the government’s policies. Aguiar criticized Minister Sturzenegger for his actions and vowed to continue fighting for fair wages and job security for state employees.
With state workers facing financial challenges and job insecurity, ATE’s upcoming strike highlights the growing discontent among public employees in Argentina. The union’s efforts to protect workers’ rights and demand fair treatment from the government are crucial in ensuring a dignified life for all employees.
