Han Dong-hoon, the leader of the main opposition People Power Party, expressed gratitude upon hearing that the party’s candidate, Yoon Il-hyun, is likely to win the by-election for the mayor of Geumjeong-gu in Busan. He stated that this victory would provide an opportunity for the people to demand reform from the party and the government. Dong-hoon promised not to miss this chance to make a meaningful change and pledged to lead the party and the government in accordance with the will of the people.
The People Power Party fielded candidates in by-elections held on October 16 in four local government offices, including Geumjeong-gu in Busan, Ganghwa County in Incheon, and Gokseong County in South Jeolla Province. Dong-hoon thanked the voters in these areas for their support and expressed his commitment to respecting the choice of those who did not choose his party. This election result is seen as an important step towards revitalizing the party and driving change within the government.
