전남 영광 재보궐 투표율 60.6%, 서울시교육감 14.9%

The recent by-elections in South Korea held on October 16 saw a 42.3% voter turnout. Particularly low was the voter turnout for the Seoul Education Superintendent by-election at 14.9%.

According to the data from the National Election Commission as of 1 pm on the 16th, the highest voter turnout was recorded in Yeonggwang-gun with 60.6%. Following closely behind were Gokseong-gun at 56.0% and Ganghwa-gun at 47.7%. The lowest voter turnout was in Geumjeong-gu, Busan with 34.4%.

For the Seoul Education Superintendent by-election, the voter turnout was at 14.9%, translating to 1,238,026 out of the 8,321,972 eligible voters. Additionally, early voting conducted on the 11th and 12th of October was also factored into the overall voter turnout.

The main voting will continue until 8 pm on the same day, requiring voters to present a valid identification document such as a resident registration card, passport, or driver’s license. Stay tuned for further updates on the election results.
