Venezuelan Military Undergoes Shake-up with New Generals Appointed

President Nicolás Maduro of Venezuela made a significant announcement on Monday, reshuffling the top brass of the National Bolivarian Armed Forces (FANB) at the Army Military Academy. This move marks a new chapter in the country’s military structure.

General Vladimir Padrino López retained his position as Minister of Defense, ensuring continuity in a crucial government role. Major General Johan Alexander Hernández Lárez was appointed as the new Commander General of the Bolivarian Army, bringing fresh leadership to the ground forces.

Admiral Ashraf Andel Hadi Suleimán Gutiérrez took command of the Bolivarian Navy, signaling a shift in naval strategy. Major General Lenín Lorenzo Ramírez Villasmil now leads the Bolivarian Military Aviation. The Bolivarian National Guard (GNB) and Bolivarian Militia also saw new commander appointments.
