UNICEF and WFP call for urgent support for women and children displaced by ongoing conflict in Lebanon.
As the Israeli military continues its offensive against Hezbollah in Lebanon, United Nations agencies UNICEF and the World Food Programme (WFP) have issued a joint statement calling for increased funding to address the growing humanitarian crisis. The conflict has displaced hundreds of thousands, with women and children bearing the brunt of the impact.
Both agencies are emphasizing the urgent need for additional funding without any conditions. Around 1.2 million people have been affected by the fighting, with nearly 190,000 individuals displaced and seeking shelter. The situation is further complicated by the influx of refugees into neighboring Syria.
WFP is providing daily support for approximately 200,000 people with food and cash assistance, while UNICEF is delivering essential supplies and services to children and families in cooperation with the Lebanese government.
