Thousands Mourn at Collective Funeral for Flood Victims in Jablanica

Thousands of citizens gathered for a collective funeral prayer in Jablanica to bury the 19 victims of the catastrophic floods. The funeral was held in the “Jasen” harem and led by the reisul-ulema of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The event was attended by dignitaries, government officials, representatives of religious communities, and citizens from various parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Before the funeral prayer, families of the victims bid their final goodbyes, creating emotional moments. Reisul-ulema Kavazović emphasized the importance of honoring the martyrs and supporting their families. He quoted a hadith stating that a drowned person is considered a martyr, sending off the victims to a better world.

After the funeral service, the victims were laid to rest in local cemeteries. The floods and landslides in Bosnia and Herzegovina claimed at least 26 lives, with ongoing search operations for one more missing person. The community came together to pay their respects and remember the lives lost in the tragic event.
