Taiwan reports being surrounded by 153 Chinese military aircraft during drills | Conflict Escalates

Exercises raise regional tension warns Taipei; US slams war games as it launches drills with Philippines.

Taiwan recently detected a significant increase in aircraft surrounding its territory as China conducted extensive military exercises, causing alarm in the self-ruled island’s defence ministry. The surge in warplane activity reached a record high within a 25-hour period, escalating tensions in the region.

China’s deployment of fighter jets, drones, warships, and coastguard ships to encircle Taiwan prompted a swift response from Taipei, which heightened alert levels on its outlying islands and dispatched appropriate forces. This move from Beijing has raised concerns not only for Taiwan but for the entire region.

Despite protests from Taiwan and its allies, including the United States, China continues to assert its claims over Taiwan and conducted the drills as a warning against separatist actions. The United States, in parallel, launched joint exercises with the Philippines in the disputed South China Sea, further intensifying the situation.

In the face of escalating tensions, Taiwan called on China to cease military provocations that jeopardize regional peace and stability. As the situation unfolds, the international community closely watches the developments in the region.
