Punjab CM sets up team to investigate private college ‘rape incident’

Amidst the uproar over the alleged ‘rape’ of a female student at a private college, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has taken action by forming a high-level committee to investigate the matter. The six-member committee, led by the Punjab chief secretary, includes representatives from various departments to ensure a thorough investigation.

The committee’s responsibilities include gathering evidence, recording statements, assessing the college’s response, and examining the role of the police in the incident. Additionally, they have the authority to add more members if necessary.

Meanwhile, the father of the victim has refuted claims that his daughter was assaulted by a security guard, stating that she was actually hospitalized due to a domestic accident. He expressed dismay at the protests being held in his daughter’s name, emphasizing the emotional toll it has taken on their family.

This case highlights the importance of a comprehensive investigation process to uncover the truth and deliver justice for the victim.
