PPP and JUI-F have come to an agreement on a shared draft of constitutional amendments, including the extension of the top judge’s term. Three separate drafts were being prepared by the government, PPP, and JUI-F prior to this consensus. Led by PPP’s Khursheed Shah, a committee with representation from all parties was formed for reconciliation. Fazlur Rehman stated that the proposals rejected by JUI-F had been removed from the draft. In a press conference, Fazl confirmed the agreement with PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, emphasizing the importance of a unified constitutional amendment.
Bilawal expressed hope for further consensus with PML-N and other opposition parties. He stressed the need for collaboration to address the country’s challenges. Fazl mentioned rejection of the initial draft and the requirement for input from PTI. Additionally, Sardar Akhtar Mengal of BNP-M raised concerns about harassment of his party’s senators.
Collaboration among political parties is crucial for a successful constitutional process and national development.
