KARACHI: JUI-F and PPP Reach Consensus on Constitutional Amendments
The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) have successfully reached an agreement on constitutional amendments after a meeting in Karachi. This was announced by JUI-F Maulana Fazlur Rehman and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari during a joint press conference.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman praised Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for the consensus reached on the draft of constitutional amendments. He also mentioned plans to meet with Nawaz Sharif to further discuss the matter.
Rejecting the government’s initial proposed amendments, Maulana Fazlur Rehman emphasized the importance of non-controversial changes for the nation, constitution, and parliament. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari highlighted the goal of resolving public issues through this agreement, inviting the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) to support the draft.
The agreement between JUI-F and PPP will lay the foundation for future negotiations, aimed at achieving non-controversial constitutional reforms for the benefit of the nation. The federal government is planning to present the amendments to the Senate on October 17 before the National Assembly session on October 18.
