Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif hosted a grand dinner on Tuesday for world dignitaries attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit. Among the guests was India’s Minister for External Affairs Subrahmanyam Jaishankar in a historic visit to Pakistan.
The SCO, consisting of major countries like China, India, Russia, and Pakistan, welcomed Pakistan as a full member in 2017. PM Shehbaz is currently serving as the Chair of the Council of the Heads of Government.
Jaishankar’s visit, focusing on the SCO summit, assures no discussion on bilateral issues. This summit also sees the presence of dignitaries from China, Russia, Belarus, and other member states with tight security arrangements in place.
The summit programme includes a welcome dinner, summit proceedings, and official luncheons with top security measures. With a diverse representation of countries and key discussions on the agenda, the SCO summit promises to be a significant diplomatic event.
