PM seeks input from Gallant, Military chief on Iran missile response

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, and IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi recently convened for a confidential meeting at an Intelligence base to discuss a potential Israeli strike on Iran. This retaliation was in response to the missile attacks earlier this month.

This meeting, attended by IDF Intelligence Directorate representatives, highlighted the exclusive decision-making power held by these top three officials. The political-security cabinet will only be briefed on the decision’s broad outlines.

Subsequent to Netanyahu’s visit to an intelligence base last month, where he received operational briefings, the confidence to proceed with actions against Hezbollah was solidified. This latest confidential meeting signifies a pivotal step in planning.

As tensions escalate, reports indicate a credible Iranian threat perception. The US has deployed a THAAD air defense system to support Israel in intercepting potential ballistic missiles, acknowledging Israel’s defense system limitations.
