Tech-shy parents in Greece will soon have access to a user-friendly online guide developed by the Ministry of Digital Governance. The guide aims to help parents monitor and control the content their children are exposed to on the internet in response to a rise in juvenile delinquency and online crimes involving minors. This initiative follows disturbing cases of violence and harassment captured on camera and shared online.
The guide includes a list of digital tools and apps for installing parental control filters on mobile devices used by children. It also provides guidance on what to watch out for and encourages parents to monitor their children’s screen time. Digital Governance Minister Dimitris Papastergiou announced that the platform will be officially launched soon.
The goal is to empower parents to set boundaries and intervene as needed, such as blocking inappropriate content and flagging keywords. Papastergiou emphasized the importance of using mobile phones as tools for communication and information, emphasizing the need for moderation in usage.
