North Gaza: Daily Crisis for Medicine, Fuel, Food, Water & Shelter

Welcome to Democracy Now!, where we bring you The War and Peace Report. I’m Amy Goodman reporting on the intensifying siege on northern Gaza. Doctors Without Borders revealed that five staff members were trapped in Jabaliya, with reports of 20 people killed in an airstrike at a hospital. Dr. Samer Attar, a volunteer surgeon in north Gaza, sheds light on the desperate situation on the ground.

Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, director of Kamal Adwan Hospital, highlighted the urgent need for medical supplies as the hospital faces a catastrophic situation due to the lack of fuel. Dr. Attar emphasized the critical condition of children in hospitals, narrating heartbreaking stories of loss and injuries.

The targeting of hospitals and medical staff in Gaza is unacceptable. Hospitals should be safe havens, devoid of military activities. Dr. Attar’s poignant editorial for The New York Times captures the harrowing reality faced by medical workers in Gaza.
