Nippon Ishin open to LDP coalition if it loses majority

In a recent interview, Nobuyuki Baba, leader of Nippon Ishin no Kai, hinted at a potential cooperation with the Liberal Democratic Party-led coalition in the event of losing majority in the House of Representatives in the upcoming Oct. 27 general election. Baba emphasized the importance of the number of seats each party holds in determining the government’s framework post-election.

Nippon Ishin aims to secure seats in single-seat constituencies outside their home turf in the Kansai region. Baba mentioned a target of sending all 162 candidates seeking constituency seats to the Lower House, showing the party’s determination to expand its reach beyond its traditional stronghold.

As the election results unfold, Baba is prepared to make a decision regarding potential collaborations based on the overall outcome. This strategic move could potentially shape the post-election political landscape in Japan.
