The Federal Government is urging Nigerians to be mindful of how they portray the country, as negative perceptions can drive away potential investors and tourists. Minister of Information, Idris Mohammed, stressed this point at the launch of the Nigeria Reputation Management Group. Despite recent efforts to attract foreign investment, continued negativity could hinder progress.
Mohammed emphasized the importance of striking a balance in how the media reports on Nigeria, highlighting the need to promote the country’s positive attributes. Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, echoed these sentiments, cautioning against the impact of fake news and misinformation on the nation’s reputation.
Addressing concerns about recent viral reports, John Momoh, CEO of Channels Television, emphasized the need for a transformation in Nigeria’s reputation based on integrity, transparency, and the well-being of its people. Despite government initiatives, challenges persist in bridging the gap between the privileged and the marginalized.
