Furthermore, China’s military drills were closer to Taiwan’s borders than ever before, with the inclusion of areas within Taiwan’s 24-mile contiguous zone. The involvement of China’s coast guard, the world’s largest, was also more significant in the drills, encircling Taiwan-controlled islands and patrolling near Taiwan’s mainland to enforce control over the Taiwan Strait.
Additionally, China’s propaganda efforts included personal attacks on Taiwan’s president and the release of videos near Taiwan’s major ports, aiming to undermine confidence in Taiwan’s military.
As the tensions continue to rise, Taiwan’s coast guard detained a Chinese individual approaching a Taiwan-controlled island, raising concerns about potential infiltration during the drills.
