Lawrence Bishnoi: Gangster causing tension between India and Canada

India and Canada are in the midst of a global dispute following the mutual expulsion of six diplomats. The conflict stemmed from Canada’s accusations of Indian government involvement in the 2023 murder of a Sikh separatist leader near Vancouver.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police implicated Indian government agents in the Bishnoi group, an organized crime syndicate allegedly headed by Lawrence Bishnoi. India has not responded to the accusations, dismissing Canadian claims as “preposterous.”

Lawrence Bishnoi, a 31-year-old law graduate, is accused by the National Investigation Agency of running a transnational crime syndicate. Bishnoi, who opposes the demand for an independent Sikh state, faces numerous murder, extortion, and terror-related charges.

His group is believed to have targeted prominent figures for violence, including popular Punjabi rapper Sidhu Moose Wala and Bollywood actor Salman Khan. Bishnoi, currently incarcerated in Gujarat, is connected to a series of violent incidents, including the recent killing of a Mumbai lawmaker.

The escalating tension between India and Canada sheds light on the complexities of international relations and the challenges posed by organized crime.
