The Progressive Students Collective (PSC) organized an anti-harassment rally in Lahore following clashes with a college’s security team and police amid protests against the alleged on-campus rape of a girl. Despite the arrest of a security guard related to the incident, no FIR has been filed, prompting the Punjab government to form a committee to investigate the matter.
The rally demanded accountability for the violence on students, action on the rape case, and measures to address harassment at educational institutions. Additionally, they called for the formation of anti-harassment committees on campuses and an awareness campaign on related laws and procedures.
In response to the incident, the director of Punjab Group of Colleges stated that CCTV footage did not provide evidence, and police had confiscated the recordings. Amidst the investigations, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) formed a committee to address disinformation circulating online.
Simultaneously, a citizen filed a case in Lahore High Court against harassment in educational institutions, highlighting the need for government action to protect female students.
