The tensions between Israel and the United Nations over peacekeeping operations in southern Lebanon have reached a boiling point. The UN force known as Unifil has faced accusations from Israel of failing to enforce Resolution 1701 and allowing Hezbollah to regroup and rearm in violation of the resolution. Israel has demanded the withdrawal of Unifil forces from conflict areas, alleging that they are being used as human shields by Hezbollah.
In Gaza, the UN Human Rights Office has accused the Israeli Defense Forces of trapping civilians in their homes and committing potential war crimes. Israel has criticized the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (Unrwa) for alleged involvement in attacks by Hamas, leading to calls for Unrwa to be banned from operating in Israeli territory.
Despite criticisms from the UN and other member nations, Israel remains steadfast in achieving its military objectives, particularly with the support of the United States. The relationship between Israel and the UN has deteriorated significantly, with Israel even barring the UN Secretary General from entering the country.
