Israeli airstrikes pound eastern Lebanon overnight — Naharnet

Tensions between Israel and Hezbollah escalated on Tuesday as Israel’s military launched strikes on eastern Lebanon in response to Hezbollah’s attack on an Israeli base that killed four soldiers. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to continue striking Hezbollah mercilessly in all parts of Lebanon, including Beirut.

Hezbollah reported that its fighters clashed with Israeli troops near Rab Tlatin village and launched missiles and rockets at soldiers and northern Israel. Israel’s military claimed to have eliminated dozens of terrorists in close-quarters combat and airstrikes.

The ongoing conflict has resulted in significant casualties and the displacement of hundreds of thousands of people. International organizations, including the Red Cross, have expressed concerns about attacks on health facilities and personnel.

The situation remains fragile, with tensions threatening to escalate further. Jordan’s King Abdullah II warned of the potential for a costly regional war, while Israel is considering its response to recent missile attacks by Iran.
