The Iraqi Ministry of Oil has announced that the country is exporting 1,000 tons of jet fuel daily, with a production capacity of 2,500 tons per day. Deputy Oil Minister for Refining Affairs, Hamid Younis, stated that the surplus of jet fuel is exported through Iraq’s State Organization for Marketing of Oil (SOMO), maximizing financial revenues. This step showcases the growth potential of Iraq’s oil sector, strengthening its international role as an oil-producing nation.
The export of oil derivatives, including jet fuel, significantly contributes to the country’s economy. Iraq’s oil refineries produce various high-quality oil derivatives, aiming to achieve self-sufficiency, increase refining capacity, and improve product quality. Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani and Oil Minister Hayan Abdul-Ghani have been pivotal in supporting these initiatives.
Last June, Al-Sudani inaugurated a high-octane gasoline isomerization unit, highlighting Iraq’s goal to eliminate the need for petroleum imports. This strategic move underscores Iraq’s commitment to enhancing its oil sector, positioning itself as a key player in the global oil market.
