Iran Air Cancels Flights to Europe Following EU Sanctions
Iran Air, the country’s flag carrier, has halted all flights to European destinations in response to sanctions imposed by the European Union (EU). The EU claims Iran Air has been assisting in Iran’s alleged supply of drones and missiles to Russia.
The Civil Aviation Organization of Iran spokesperson stated that the cancellations were made to avoid inconvenience for passengers due to potential bans on Iran Air planes landing at European airports. The sanctions also targeted Mahan Air and Saha Airlines, deemed a violation of international aviation regulations.
Despite the disruptions, Iran is working with its airlines and Foreign Ministry to facilitate travelers’ journeys to Europe. Iran Air’s flights to seven EU destinations, including Rome, Milan, Vienna, and Paris, have been affected. It remains uncertain if flights to London will be impacted.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry denounced the sanctions as unjust and summoned the Hungarian ambassador to express their strong protest. Iran continues legal defense cooperation with other countries to safeguard its interests and security.
