“1 in 4 Yemenis confront food insecurity” – Yemen Press Agency

The World Bank and the United Nations have raised alarm over the increasing food insecurity in Yemen. Over 12 million Yemenis are currently at risk of famine, with a 6% rise in acute food insecurity compared to the previous year. Factors contributing to this crisis include conflict escalation, climate change effects like droughts and floods, currency devaluation, and high fuel costs.

The report predicts that 24% of the Yemeni population will face acute food insecurity in the latter half of this year due to ongoing conflict, limited job opportunities, and climate change impacts. The situation is particularly severe in areas controlled by the Saudi-led coalition, making it challenging for the population to access food. Urgent action is needed to address this humanitarian crisis in Yemen.
