법사위, 감사원 현장검증으로 ‘관저 감사 회의록 제출 거부’ 확인

The National Assembly Legislation and Judiciary Committee has decided to conduct an on-site verification of the Audit Office, which has refused to submit the meeting minutes of the special audit committee on the alleged relocation of the president’s office and residence.

In response to the repeated refusal of the Audit Office Director Choi Jaehae to submit the minutes, Committee Chair Jung Chung-rae announced that they would verify the minutes at the Audit Office in Samcheong-dong, Seoul on the 24th at 3 p.m. Citing the clause in the National Assembly Testimony and Verification Law allowing committees to verify matters necessary for audits, Jung said they would proceed with the verification process.

The Audit Office had been asked by the committee on August 29 to submit the meeting minutes from May 10 and August 29. However, the office had been embroiled in controversy over incomplete and misleading audit reports, specifically regarding the presidential office and residence relocation suspicions. In light of this, lawmakers from both the ruling and opposition parties have called for disciplinary actions against those refusing to submit the requested documents.

This move comes as part of efforts to ensure transparency and accountability in government audits, highlighting the importance of upholding democratic principles in oversight processes.
