The previous academic year witnessed a surge in Gaza solidarity protests on North American campuses to condemn Israel’s oppression of Palestinians. Despite being peaceful, these sit-ins faced backlash from pro-Israel groups, resulting in arrests and criminal charges for many students. As a new academic year begins, students are once again gearing up to protest against Zionist aggression in Gaza, the West Bank, and Lebanon.
Amidst this, far-right Zionist groups like Magen Herut Canada and the Jewish Defense League have emerged, intimidating students and protesters at universities. These groups, with their roots in violence and terrorism, aim to suppress anti-Zionist movements and promote Western imperial agendas.
The presence of these groups on campuses signifies a dangerous trend, importing oppressive tactics used in Palestine to North America. To combat this, a unified front of anti-colonial resistance is crucial, rejecting Zionism as a tool of white supremacy and advocating for justice and equality for all.
