    US to send missile system and troops to Israel for defense against Iran.

    The United States has announced plans to deploy a Terminal High Altitude Area Defence battery to Israel, along with the necessary troops to operate it. This decision comes amidst rising tensions in the region, with Iran warning the US to stay out of Israel.

    Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, authorized by President Joe Biden, approved the deployment of the THAAD system to bolster Israel’s air defenses following recent missile attacks from Iran.

    Despite efforts to prevent an escalation, the deployment of the THAAD system could stoke further conflict in the Middle East. The decision was met with caution by Iran, which has been embroiled in clashes with Israeli forces and Hezbollah fighters since October 2023.
