The National Ministry of Justice, with the support of UNMISS, has established a 30-day mobile court in Ruweng Administrative Area to address the increasing cases of rape and murder. President of the High Court, John Yil Alul, emphasized the importance of access to justice in maintaining social order and ensuring people can go about their activities without fear.
Alul revealed that he has already received 11 murder and three rape cases since the court’s establishment, some of which require review due to being prosecuted by local chiefs. He also emphasized the need to ensure justice for those already in prison.
Residents in Parieng Town, such as Peter Deng, expressed gratitude for the court’s presence, believing it will strengthen the justice system and promote law enforcement in Ruweng. The court aims to prosecute all matters within its premises during the one-month mission starting from October 10.
Overall, the collaborative efforts of the government in Ruweng and UNMISS are praised for supporting the judiciary in addressing legal issues within the community.
