Brazil Reaffirms Support for Morocco’s Efforts on Sahara Issue

During discussions with Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita, Rodrigo Pacheco, President of the Brazilian Senate, reiterated Brazil’s strong stance on the Sahara issue. Brazil commended Morocco’s credible efforts to resolve the conflict over the Moroccan Sahara through the autonomy initiative proposed by the Kingdom in 2007.

Pacheco emphasized the diverse ties between Morocco and Brazil, stating that his visit aims to enhance this relationship and address common challenges, particularly concerning climate issues. He expressed Brazil’s willingness for Morocco to participate in a climate conference Brazil will host next year.

The two countries are eager to strengthen economic relations, particularly in food trade, with plans to boost Brazilian product presence in Morocco. The resumption of direct flights between Casablanca and São Paulo exemplifies efforts to enhance cultural exchange and economic ties.

This visit coincides with the upcoming 20th anniversary of King Mohammed VI’s visit to Brazil, highlighting the strong trade partnership between the two nations. The direct airline connection between the countries is seen as a significant step in further solidifying the bond and fostering cultural exchange among youth.
