Shettima stands by government policies during tough times

Vice President Kashim Shettima has come to the defense of the Federal Government’s policies, which have faced criticism due to the hardships faced by Nigerians. Since President Bola Tinubu took office on May 29, 2023, many Nigerians, especially the poor, have been struggling.

Tinubu’s decision to end the fuel subsidy and overhaul the foreign exchange system has had a negative impact on the economy, particularly on the poor. The removal of the fuel subsidy led to an increase in transportation costs, which in turn raised food prices, making it difficult for many Nigerians to make ends meet.

During the Nigerian Economic Summit’s 30th-anniversary event in Abuja, Vice President Shettima expressed empathy for the suffering of the citizens, especially those in poverty. He defended the government’s economic policies, acknowledging the pain they may cause but stressing their necessity for the country’s long-term welfare.
