Secret tomb discovered beneath iconic Indiana Jones set in Petra

Deep within the renowned ancient city of Petra in Jordan, lies the impressive Khaznah monument, also known as the Treasury. This elaborate structure, carved into pink sandstone cliffs, has long been a point of intrigue for archaeologists and historians.

Recently, a groundbreaking discovery was made beneath the Khaznah – a tomb containing at least 12 human skeletons along with artifacts dating back over 2000 years. Dr. Pearce Paul Creasman and his team from the American Center of Research led the excavation that uncovered this ancient burial site.

Years of speculation led the team to believe that there were more hidden chambers beneath the Treasury, following the discovery of two tombs below the left side in 2003. Through the use of ground-penetrating radar techniques, the researchers confirmed the existence of a similar structure on the right side, leading to the excavation of this newly found tomb.

This remarkable find offers a deeper insight into the ancient civilization that once thrived in Petra, shedding light on their burial practices and cultural traditions.
