Schools in Chennai, 3 Districts Shut Tomorrow; IT Firms urged for WFH

Due to heavy rainfall forecasts, schools and colleges are closed in Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, and Chengalpattu districts in Tamil Nadu on Tuesday. CM MK Stalin has urged IT firms to allow employees to work from home from October 15-18.

The IMD predicts heavy rainfall in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal over the next three days, leading to an orange alert being issued. Precautionary measures and preparedness are being taken in various districts.

CM Stalin chaired a meeting to review monsoon preparedness, where measures like pumps, tractors, boats, and supplies were discussed. Additional precautions were explained by district collectors.

An orange alert has been issued by the IMD for October 14-16, warning of heavy rainfall. The formation of a low-pressure area will lead to intense downpours in the region, affecting several districts.

The state government has instructed authorities to maintain law and order, implement precautionary measures, and warned about potential disruptions like traffic issues and waterlogging.

With heavy rains already causing waterlogging in Tiruvallur, local authorities are working to manage the impact. The government is closely monitoring the situation and taking necessary steps.

Overall, the state is gearing up for heavy rainfall and potential challenges resulting from the weather conditions, with efforts in place to ensure safety and minimize disruptions.
