Rania al-Mashat discusses economic solutions at Al-Masry Al-Youm’s Forum

Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation Rania al-Mashat set the tone at the Al-Masry Al-Youm Economic Forum on “A New Generation of Economic Policies.” The event saw prominent figures like economist Jeffrey Sachs and UN Special Envoy Mahmoud Mohieldin.

The minister highlighted the global economic landscape marked by crises, stressing the urgency of bridging development and financing gaps in developing nations. As inflation rises and geopolitical tensions persist, countries struggle to meet Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

She emphasized the need for inclusive economic policies and global cooperation to address these challenges. The discussion also focused on public debt burdens, climate financing, and restructuring the global financial system.

Egypt’s approach includes a three-pillar strategy for economic reform and fostering private sector involvement. Innovative financing mechanisms and programs like the “NWFE” Country Platform aim to attract climate investments and ensure a sustainable future.

By actively engaging in South-South and triangular cooperation initiatives, Egypt aims to leverage partnerships for sustainable development, positioning itself as a key player in global economic affairs.
