The Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement (PTM) concluded its grand jirga in Jamrud, presenting a 22-point resolution demanding the withdrawal of militant groups and cheaper electricity in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Delegates from various political parties and organizations discussed the impact of militancy and anti-terrorism operations that displaced millions over the past two decades.
The PTM, banned by the government, called for the lifting of the ban and set a two-month ultimatum for militant groups to vacate KP. They demanded affordable electricity without loadshedding and requested the opening of the Durand Line for visa-free trade with Afghanistan.
Furthermore, the jirga advocated for women’s education in Afghanistan, dispute resolution between tribes, natural gas and water supply, release of political prisoners, and the return of internally displaced people without extortion. KP leaders attended the jirga, pledging support for the resolutions.
The jirga’s resolution will be presented in the provincial assembly for approval, reflecting unity in addressing terrorism and other issues in KP.
