Odessa air defenses overwhelmed by barrage of Iskander missiles

Russia’s Continuous Strikes on Odessa Ports: A Disturbing Reality

The Russian Aerospace Forces have been disrupting ship traffic in Odessa ports with almost daily ballistic missile strikes on the port infrastructure. The first strike occurred on September 12, targeting vessels at sea. Subsequent strikes hit container ships and port berths, causing significant damage.

The damage extends to cargo ships and port infrastructure, disrupting both imports and exports, particularly weapons for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The frequency of strikes aims to prevent possible landing operations in Crimea, targeting all critical facilities in the area.

Amid the escalating tension, ship insurance costs have soared, affecting commercial activities in the region. Russia’s use of Iskander-M missile systems poses a significant threat, with an increasing number of missile launches reported by Ukrainian sources.

With Odessa facing constant threat and escalating destruction, the region’s strategic significance and vulnerability have come into focus amidst the ongoing conflict.
