NATO Commences Annual Military Exercises ‘Steadfast Noon’ to Practice Defense Strategies
NATO has kicked off its annual military exercises, ‘Steadfast Noon’, with the goal of honing defense tactics, including the potential use of nuclear weapons.
Around 2,000 military personnel from 13 NATO countries will participate in the exercises, which will take place at air bases in Belgium, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and Denmark over the next two weeks.
The training will involve more than 60 aircraft, including modern fighter jets capable of carrying U.S. nuclear missiles, long-range bombers, surveillance planes, and refueling aircraft.
While specific details of the exercises have not been disclosed, military experts suggest that the maneuvers will include practicing the secure transport of nuclear weapons and mounting them on fighter jets.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte emphasized that the exercises are not a direct response to Russia’s actions in Ukraine but are meant to demonstrate the Alliance’s readiness to defend itself.
