The Rise of Morocco’s Defense Industry: ATLAS ISTAR Drone Successfully Tested
The successful test of Morocco’s first locally manufactured drone, ATLAS ISTAR, marks a significant milestone in the country’s efforts to develop its defense industry. With the recent designation of two industrial zones dedicated to defense industries, Morocco’s initiative to localize military production is gaining momentum. Military expert Mohammed Chiker emphasized the irreversible nature of Morocco’s military manufacturing project, stressing the importance of partnerships with foreign companies and private sector involvement.
Chiker noted the need for gradual involvement of the private sector, starting with light military manufacturing and moving towards more advanced areas. Morocco is paving the way for its own defense industry, with a strong legal and industrial foundation in place to attract investments and partnerships.
