Mainland spokesperson: Taiwan independence activities bound to fail

In a stern warning, a Chinese mainland spokesperson declared that any attempts to promote “Taiwan independence” would be futile. Wu Qian, spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defense, stated that recent military drills were specifically aimed at thwarting separatist activities, not targeting Taiwanese citizens. The drills, organized by the Eastern Theater Command of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army, involved army, navy, air force, and rocket force troops in the Taiwan Straits and surrounding areas.

Emphasizing a commitment to peaceful reunification with Taiwan, Wu made it clear that the mainland would not hesitate to resort to force if necessary to prevent any moves towards independence. Despite the call for unity, the spokesperson left no room for negotiation on the issue of Taiwan’s sovereignty.

As tensions simmer in the region, the mainland’s uncompromising stance underscores its resolve to maintain territorial integrity and squash any challenges to its sovereignty. The message is clear: Taiwan’s independence aspirations will not succeed in the face of China’s determination.
