Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba of the Liberal Democratic Party has called for discussions on enhancing security in the Asian region. He emphasized the need for measures such as revising the Japan-U.S. status of forces pact and establishing an Asian equivalent to NATO.
During a meeting with party leaders and government officials, Ishiba highlighted the importance of close coordination with the foreign and defense ministries. Defense Minister Gen Nakatani has been tasked with evaluating the security situations in Italy and Germany, where U.S. forces are stationed.
