Revolutionizing Gas Imports in Iraq: Al-Faw Grand Port to Host New Platform

Exciting news has emerged from Iraq’s South Gas Company, revealing plans to sign a contract for the establishment of a cutting-edge gas imports platform at the Al-Faw Grand Port in southern Iraq. This groundbreaking initiative is set to diversify gas supply sources and facilitate surplus gas exports, marking a significant step forward for the country’s energy sector.

With the technical assistant of the South Gas Company, Majid Al-Shawaf, confirming the upcoming contract, the project is well underway. The platform will feature state-of-the-art storage tanks and a transmission pipeline covering a whopping 100 kilometers with a capacity of 1,000 million cubic feet.

Following the approval of Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammad Shia Al-Sudani, construction is set to commence, making this platform the first of its kind in Iraq’s oil and gas industry. It will address gas supply challenges, enhance operational efficiency of power plants, and pave the way for increased reliance on domestically sourced gas.
