Iranian diplomat holds talks with top Houthi official in Oman: ministry

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi continues his diplomatic tour in the Middle East amidst rising tensions with Israel. Araghchi recently met with Mohammed Abdelsalam, a senior official from Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi movement, in Muscat. The meeting, part of a series of diplomatic trips in the region, comes as Iran faces threats of retaliation from Israel following a missile attack.

Iran recently launched 200 missiles at Israel in response to the killing of Tehran-aligned militant leaders, prompting Israel to vow a response. The Houthis, along with other militant groups, are part of Iran’s “axis of resistance” against Israel.

Araghchi’s regional tour also included visits to Baghdad, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia, focusing on establishing ceasefires in Lebanon and Gaza and preventing further conflict escalation. Despite tensions, Araghchi emphasized Iran’s preference for peace over war.

As the situation in the Middle East remains volatile, Araghchi’s diplomatic efforts reflect Iran’s commitment to seeking diplomatic solutions and avoiding further escalation of tensions.
