India has decided to recall its ambassador and diplomats from Canada following a dispute over allegations linking the ambassador to the assassination of a Sikh activist. The Indian government rejected claims made by Canadian officials and considered them baseless targeting and completely unacceptable.
The foreign ministry of India stated that the targeting of its officials was unfounded and lacked credibility, prompting the government to withdraw its representatives from Canada. Last year, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau suggested that the Indian government was connected to the activist’s assassination, which India vehemently denied.
Attempts to seek comments from Canadian authorities were unsuccessful at the time of reporting. The diplomatic tensions between India and Canada highlight the complexities of international relations.
