IDF, NGOs gear up for second Gaza polio vaccination drive

Government directives led the IDF to coordinate with UN officials to restart the polio vaccination campaign in Gaza. The campaign will focus on three main areas in Gaza and work with international organizations to provide vaccines. IDF officers from COGAT met with UN officials to coordinate the campaign, which will include pauses for reassessment of population needs.

The vaccinations will be given between 6:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. with pauses for evaluation. COGAT and international organizations prepared the campaign, ensuring the entry of vaccines, equipment, and specialists into Gaza. Since the conflict began, a significant number of vaccines have entered Gaza through the Kerem Shalom crossing.

With the goal of vaccinating 90% of the population, the IDF continues to facilitate the entry of medical and humanitarian aid into Gaza. Over 50,000 trucks have delivered aid, including food and medical supplies. The cooperation between IDF, UN, and international organizations highlights the importance of health initiatives during times of conflict.
