Hawks bolster crime-fighting funds with R8m

Breaking news! The Hawks have made a significant jump in nabbing suspects involved in serious crimes. With a total of 673 suspects arrested in the first quarter, the Hawks are actively targeting individuals engaged in corruption, organized crime, commercial crime, and various other criminal activities. Notable arrests include former Steinhoff CEO Markus Jooste and former Steinhoff CFO Ben La Grange.

Warning about Fentanyl

While celebrating their successes, the Hawks issued a warning about the increasing presence of fentanyl, a deadly synthetic opioid, in South Africa’s drug routes. This drug has the potential to kill thousands of people with just one kilogram. With drug trafficking being a prominent transnational organized crime, the Hawks urge South Africans to combat drug demand and prevent the spread of fentanyl.

The dismantling of seven illegal drug labs led to the recovery of R17.4m, showcasing the efforts to combat drug trafficking. Stay updated with the latest crime-fighting efforts on BusinessLIVE.
