Hapcham Chief: “Defeat Enemy Completely if NLL Violated”

Kim Myung-soo, Chief of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, recently visited the naval and maritime defense mission, the “Cheonan,” in Incheon and the West Sea. The ship, which sank near Baengnyeong Island in the West Sea on March 26, 2010, was a corvette (1200t), while the new model “Cheonan” deployed last December is a 2800t frigate.

During his visit, Kim emphasized the importance of military readiness and commended the soldiers for their dedication. He also instructed the naval forces to be prepared for any provocation from the enemy and to respond swiftly and decisively.

Highlighting the significance of the “Cheonan” in defending the Northern Limit Line, Kim emphasized that any provocation south of the NLL would be met with a strong and resolute response. He also underscored the need for close collaboration and coordination among coastal defense commanders to ensure the safety and security of the region.

Kim’s visit and directives serve as a reminder of the crucial role played by the naval forces in protecting the country’s maritime borders and responding effectively to any potential threats.
